Recently as last Saturday at the Huntly and Te Rapa PlaceMakers Speedway was the double header meeting for the Huntly Door Systems Waikato Super Stock champs and the Hazelton Stock Car memorial. Results will come shortly.
Next up meeting at Huntly will be another round of the D V S Super Saloon series on Saturday 29th December. This series is going pretty well after the first two rounds at Rotorua and Huntly. Prior to the Huntly round on the 29th was a round on the 15th December at Waikaraka Park in Auckland. 16 Super Saloons make up the grid and race over 5 races on the night. The series is proving to be a success as these cars don’t run in the other Burger King Pro Dirt Super Saloon series which also races throughout the North Island. Added to this night on the 29th December will a display of BMX races called the Freestyle, Lifestyle BMX. This will be a first for Huntly and if you are into your BMX come and watch at the speedway track. As this meeting leads up to the new years Hnutly Speedway will have another awesome fireworks display.
(Happy New Years) 2 days later at Huntly Speedway on Tuesday (thats right Tuesday night 6pm) the 1st January will be the United Truck Parts International Midget series. This will be the best Midget drivers in the WORLD at Huntly. Drivers will be from USA, Australia and New Zealand. From the USA will Kyle Larson and Christopher Bell from the Keith Kunz`s Motorsport team when racing in the states. Both Larson and Bell race in the Nascars in the States and both have done very well in the receptive Nascar classes. In November Larson and Bell in Sprintcars were 1st and 2nd in the big money Turkey Shoot Sprintcar feature. Also coming down from the states are Tyler (sunshine) Courtney and Zach Daum the current 2NZ midget, plus Chris Windom and young gun Logan Seavey all from the states. From Australia are Matt Smith, Kaidon Brown – Australian champ and Scott Farmer. Added to these drivers will be around 25 New Zealand drivers headed by current 3NZ Michael Pickens, Brad Mosen, Hayden Williams and Brock (the rock) Masovich plus many more. The midgets will have 8 heats on the night plus the grand finale 40 lapper. On the night will be midget test race between NZ / USA and Australia. Support classes on the night will be Sprintcars, Superstocks and Ministocks. Racing on the night starts at 6pm. Rain date for this meeting will be on the next night Wednesday 2nd January.
Two weeks later at Huntly Speedway on Friday 11th and Saturday 12th January will be another biggy the Made In Metal New Zealand Super Saloon title. Over the 2 nights will be lots of Super Saloon qualifying races leading up to the one race final for the 2019 Made In Metal new Super Saloon champion. Entries are coming from all over New Zealand for this event. The club would expect up to 40 Super Saloons. Current 1NZ Terry Corrin form Tauranga has been over racing at Huntly recently on the new track surface and getting some wins. The lap record for Super Saloons has been broken several times by Terry Corrin, Dan Corrin and Matt Smith with Matt Smith the new record holder of 14.3097 for a lap.
