Welcome to the preview of the new coming speedway season at Huntly PlaceMakers Speedway.
Prior to the official season starting in November, throughout October will be the three official practices sessions, green sheeting and SNZ and club registration days.
First meeting of the season will be on Saturday night the 3rd November for the Porter Group V8 Special meeting. This is the same weekend as the Supercars at Pukekohe. Added bonus to this night will be the first time running of the DVS Super Saloon series at Huntly PlaceMakers Speedway. This series has been put together by Huntly stalwart Super Saloon driver Steve Williams. Most of the cars racing in this series don`t race in the other Pro Dirt Super Saloon series throughout the North Island. This is a great opportunity for these cars to show their stuff. Other classes racing on this night will be Superstocks, Stockcars, Saloons, Sprintcars, Modifieds, and Sidecars still to be confirmed.

On Saturday 10th November will be the Fireworks Spectacular meeting plus the added bonus of this meeting being Triple Points for all the classes racing on the night. This season we have again upped the ante with the fireworks show and will be the Best Fireworks show in speedway and again the show will be to music with songs like Sandstorm, TNT and the finale song Thunderstruck by AC/DC. Be early to the stadium with gates opening at 3pm and racing starting at 7pm
Friday 16th and Saturday 17th November is the Stockcar Teams Invitation. This event will again be a crowd pleaser right up till the final team’s race and added to the Saturday night show will be the Waikato Super Saloon champs, this will include the Kevin Bates memorial for Super Saloons.
Saturday 1st of December will be the Waikato Modified and Production Saloon championship events.
On Saturday 15th December will be the Waikato Superstock championship events plus the ever popular Alex Gillian and George Hazelton Stockcar memorial.

To finish off the first half of the season on Saturday night 29th December will be another round of the DVS Super Saloon Serie and once again we will have another brilliant Fireworks spectacular show to finish the night off as new years is just around the corner.
The second half of the busy Huntly PlaceMakers Speedway season will start Tuesday 1st January 2019 with the United Truck Parts International Midget series. Huntly PlaceMakers Speedway is part of the International Midget series also includes Western Springs and Baypark Speedway. At this meeting will be the Best Midget drivers from USA, Australia and all the top guns from New Zealand battling it out over 40 laps of speed and close racing. This will be the only chance Huntly has this speedway season to see all these world class drivers on our patch of dirt. Also on this night will be top class support classes racing. Rain date for this event will be on the Wednesday night 2nd January.
Next up on Friday 11th January will be the qualifying night races for the Made In Metal NZ Super Saloon Championship. The club should expect close to 40 Super Saloons for this title coming from all over New Zealand. The calibre of cars in this class now is top notch with most of the cars in the American style late model Saloons. On the Saturday night will also be the Waikato Minisprint championship title.
Saturday 26th January will be the Lightning Concrete Waikato Stockcar championship and the Oval Superstar Minisprint Tour. As usual there will be big numbers of Stockcars as this will be a lead up meeting to the NZ Stockcar Grand Prix at Huntly in February.

On Friday 8th February and Saturday 9th February is the NZ Stockcar Grand Prix. Friday night will be all the qualifying groups leading into Saturday night for the finals and the chance to be the new NZ Stockcar GP winner for 2019. This meeting will have the best Stockcars from throughout NZ as it is one week before the NZ Stockcar champs at Baypark. The current 2018 Stockcar Grand Prix winner is Ali Van Amsterdam from Huntly PlaceMakers Speedway. Wouldn’t it be great to continue on with another Huntly car winning the title.
One week later on Saturday 16th February will be another huge meeting triple header show. This will be the Waikato Sidecar and Waikato Ministock championship events plus added to this night will be the Modified 30 lapper. Another bumper night at Huntly PlaceMakers Speedway.
Saturday 9th March is another triple header meeting with the Waikato Sprintcar, Waikato Saloon Championships and the Midget 40 lap spectacular. Pure Open Wheel racing at its best and nothing better than finishing the night with the 40 lap midget race.
Saturday 16th March is the Closing meeting at Huntly PalceMakers Speedway for all the classes. Added to this awesome meeting will be the Kiwi vs Kangaroo Ministock challenge and a Demo Derby which hasn’t been at Huntly PlaceMakers Speedway for years. A fireworks show for this meeting is still to be confirmed.
On Saturday 6th April is the Future of Speedway Ministock challenge. With up to 100 drivers or more showing their talented driving skills to all their fans. These youth drivers’ boys and girls are from 12 years old to 16 years old. Added to this meeting will be the Kiwi Kids racing from Western Springs.
Finally on Saturday 13th April is a meeting we have called Watch This Space. As more details come forward we will keep you updated on the website with what is happening for this meeting.
