Recent results for racing at Huntly and Te Rapa PlaceMakers Speedway on Saturday 2nd December. On this night was a double header for major events which were the Raceworks Waikato Modified championship plus the Midget 40 lap spectacular. After all the qualifying heats for Modifieds it was down to the top 2 Modifieds of 119H Brad lane and 3NZ Jamie Fox on the front row. Lane got the jump on Fox and held his lead to the finish and become the new Raceworks 2017 Waikato Modified champion from Jamie Fox and 3rd 4H Paul Hobson.
The second part of the big night and the now well recognised Midget 40 lapper. 9 USA Zach Daum and 96A Chris McCutcheon filled the front row for the final McCutcheon took the lead with Daum in hot pursuit. McCutcheon still lead on lap 22 only for Daum to do a slide job on McCutcheon on lap 25 which caused McCutcheon to have a flat tyre. From the restart it was full noise for Duam to the finish and set a new midget lap record of 13.1002 which is pretty fast around Huntly. At the end you’re 2017 Midget 40 lapper winner is Zach Daum, 2nd Michael Brunt and 3rd Carl Worboys. All these cars will be back at Huntly on Monday 1st January 2018.
This coming Saturday at Huntly Speedway will be the start of the next 3 big meetings. First up is the North Island Super Saloon championship. Over 20 cars have entered and the big names will be here. Just to name some are Mark Osborne, Steve Flynn, Ben Harding, Donald Gregory, Dan Corrin and 3 of Huntly drivers Steve Williams, Craig Cardwell and Nepia Anuru. Most of the drivers are currently racing the Burger King Pro Dirt Super Saloon Series. Added to this triple header night is the Waikato Superstock championship and for Stockcars the Alex Gillian and George Hazelton Stockcar memorial. All three classes will have action all night.

Two weeks later at Huntly on Saturday 30th December will be will be the final round for the travelling road show of Saloons racing in the Holden Trade Club Saloon Speedweek presented by Valvoline. This will be the top 20 Saloons from various tracks from around New Zealand. Added to this night will be the support classes and another big and awesome FIREWORKS show
Two nights later on Monday 1st January the action will ramp up again. This time it will be the Untied Truck Parts International Midget series round 4 at Huntly Speedway. The big names of midget racing in the world will be at the super fast oval in Huntly. From USA you will have 7 drivers with multiple feature and titles added to their names which include Kyle Larson (Midget, Sprintcar and current Nascar driver. When Larson was last at Western Springs for the full campaign Larson won all 4 feature midget races. Other names include Brad Loyet, Spencer Bayston, Tyler Courtney, Tyler Thomas, Alex Bright and the current Huntly Midget 40 lapper winner Zach Daum. The Australian drivers are Michael Stewart, Dayne Kingshott and Kaidon Brown and again many Australian feature wins to their names. Over 20 New Zealand drivers will be coming to take the glory off the overseas drivers with top of the list current 1NZ Michael Pickens, 2NZ Brad Mosen, Brock Maskovich, Chris McCutcheon, Hayden Williams, Carl Worboys and Huntly driver Michael Brunt plus many more of the best. Support classes on the night will be TQ Midgets, Modifieds and Ministocks.
